4 Dead, 9 Injured After Vehicle Crashes into Long Island nail salon

On Friday afternoon in Long Island, New York, a driver smashed a minivan into the front of a manicure shop, killing at least four people and injuring nine more, according to authorities.

At the Hawaii Nail & Spa on Grand Avenue in Deer Park, Suffolk County, the incident happened at 4:42 p.m. local time.

Dominic Albanese, the third assistant chief for the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, stated in a news briefing that four people were pronounced dead at the scene and nine others were transported to nearby hospitals, with one being airlifted by helicopter. Several individuals had to be extricated from the scene, Albanese added.

The driver was among those hospitalized, but the conditions of the injured victims remain unknown.

Albanese confirmed that the four deceased individuals were found inside the nail salon, but it is unclear whether they were employees or customers.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, and authorities are investigating whether the incident was intentional, according to Albanese.
