1 Dead and Over 24 Injured in Ohio Mass Shooting

According to city officials, a mass shooting early Sunday morning in Akron, Ohio, resulted in one fatality and 24 injuries.

The incident occurred just after midnight local time (05:00 BST) in Akron.

Police received reports of gunfire near Kelly Avenue and 8th Avenue, approximately 40 miles south of Cleveland, shortly after midnight. The events leading up to the shooting remain unclear.

The investigation is ongoing, and no suspect information is available at this time. City officials are urging residents with any information to come forward.

“We will bring those responsible to justice, and we need the help of our community to do that. For those who have information about this horrific shooting – we need you to speak up in order to prevent further violence and retaliation. This can be done anonymously,” the joint statement from Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Police Chief Brian Harding said.

Officers responded shortly after receiving calls and reports from hospitals about multiple gunshot victims arriving in emergency departments.

In total, 25 people were shot, including the person who was killed, police confirmed.

Police have stated that callers providing information can remain anonymous.

The investigation into the shooting is still underway.
