During a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas, a shooting occurred resulting in two fatalities and several injuries, according to police. The incident took place at Old Settlers Park, roughly 20 miles north of Austin, on Saturday night.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks reported that a conflict escalated between two groups around 11 p.m., leading to gunfire. At the time, the park was crowded, and the shooting left multiple people wounded.

At the time, there was a sizable crowd in attendance, and according to the chief, "multiple victims were hit." According to Banks, officers present at the scene responded and started helping.

The chief withheld details regarding the victims, however Austin-Travis County EMS had earlier reported that the six individuals—two of whom were children—were taken to nearby trauma centers by first responders, "all with potentially serious injuries."

“It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens,” Banks said. “My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.”
