Comedian Dana Carvey's son Dex passes away at age 32 from a drug overdose

The 32-year-old son of comedian Dana Carvey, Dex Carvey, passed away on Wednesday due to an unintentional drug overdose, according to a statement released by his parents.

In a statement that was uploaded to Instagram on Thursday, Dana Carvey and his spouse, Paula, disclosed the passing of their son.

Dex Carvey continued his father's comedic legacy by performing an opening act for his "Straight White Male" Netflix special from 2016.

He made light of the fact that his brother entered the industry throughout the performance, calling them the "Von Trapp family of comedy."

The "Saturday Night Live" veteran Dana Carvey, together with his spouse, characterized their oldest son as a man of "exceptional talent" who devotedly followed his passion for the arts.
