Actor Mark Sheppard of "Supernatural" is recuperating from a heart attack

Actor Mark Sheppard, who had a heart emergency, says he's fortunate to be alive.

The actor from "Supernatural" claimed on Instagram that he passed out in his kitchen on Friday.

“Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times I apparently had a 100% blockage in my LAD. The caption said, "The Widowmaker (sic)," and included a picture of him lying in a hospital bed.

The left anterior descending artery, which feeds blood to the organ's front left side, is referred to as "LAD" by Johns Hopkins Medicine.

As per the American Heart Association, a heart attack caused by a blockage in this particular spot is sometimes referred to as a "widow maker".

Sheppard stated, "I wouldn't be writing this" if it weren't for his wife, the personnel of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

He wrote, "My chances of survival were virtually nil."

Sheppard says that he's on the road to recovery, which is wonderful news.
